What is Wire EDM?
EDM (electric discharge machining), has come a long way since its development in 1943. Also referred to as spark machining, spark eroding, burning, die sinking, wire burning, or wire erosion, EDM uses a series of electrostatic discharges to remove and shape material.
EDM milling technology is especially useful for:
cutting hardened materials
sharp internal corners
thin-walled geometries that require fine precision cuts
four-axis and taper cutting
parts that cannot be cut via traditional shop equipment
