Rock-Solid Documentation

How Rock-Solid Documentation Sets Arbiser Machine Apart

Tired of precision machine shops asking you for the full specs of a repeat order? Wondering whether your quote request was successfully submitted because you haven’t received a confirmation?

At Arbiser Machine, you’ll never waste time reiterating the same information about a past order, and we’ll never leave you hanging after receiving your quote request. We pride ourselves on having a rock-solid documentation process that creates a seamless customer experience.

Responsiveness Inspires Confidence

Our customers know that the only time they won’t receive immediate confirmation after placing an order with us is if we don’t actually receive the order.

Automatic acknowledgment of every order is a baked-in part of our internal processes that gives customers peace of mind from the moment they begin working with us through the moment we complete their parts.

We certainly don’t like being left in the dark about the progress of an order we place with a vendor, so we’d never want our customers to experience such frustrating uncertainty.

Comprehensive Records Drive Excellence

When it comes to ensuring high-quality CNC machining services, the devil is in the details. To prevent miscommunication, we ensure that every step associated with an order is recorded in writing and easily accessible to our team.

When a customer submits an order, some specifications may be incomplete or in flux as they await further information from our team. If new specs are established or a design is revised, we log this information in the part’s file.

Additionally, in the event that a part fails during testing and we have to adjust its specifications to improve performance, we specify what went wrong and how we addressed it in the documentation. That way, the next time we encounter a similar issue, we’ll have a clear record of how to troubleshoot it.

Travelers Establish Institutional Memory

Once an order is in progress, we create a traveler—a bar-coded aggregator of all documentation related to a part that stays with the part throughout production. The traveler includes—among other information—critical material certifications that confirm the material used meets industry standards.

The traveler protects our customers and our precision machine shop, as we can easily locate information demonstrating that a job was completed properly. We often pull material certifications from our aerospace customers’ travelers going back several years.

In fact, if a customer we served 20 years ago appeared in our shop and requested a repeat order, we’d be able to locate the traveler within seconds and recreate the part with the exact same specifications. The traveler offers a failsafe way to recall such details without relying on fallible human memory.

Our Principal Engineer, Brandon, recently worked with a new customer who was distraught that a precision machine shop he’d worked with in the past replaced a material called out in the design with a cheaper one that did not comply with standards. Brandon let him know that this unapproved substitution would never happen at Arbiser Machine.

If we substituted a material, it would be with the customer’s full approval, and the documentation would indicate the reason for the substitution.

Documentation Facilitates Compliance

Our extensive documentation processes help to ensure continuous compliance with ISO 9001:2015 requirements.

After more than two decades of undergoing annual audits (and passing them with flying colors), we know the value of “showing our work”: clarifying the exact processes followed, any revisions made, and the specific materials used.

Let Arbiser Machine Earn Your Trust

At Arbiser Machine, you can be confident that you’ll find no “maybes” in our system, and you’ll never have to share the same part details with us twice. We consider our documentation processes every bit as important to the quality of our work as our machining capabilities, and they’re one of the key reasons we have so many long-standing customer relationships.

When designing parts for high-stakes industries, you simply cannot afford to work with a precision machine shop you don’t trust. Let Arbiser Machine earn your trust. Request a quote today.
